This year there were abundant rain. Grasses grew where none had been before and this stream had water in it. I waited until the first minute of sunrise to catch the sun glancing off of the peaks of the badlands. I had to be quick since the sun quickly became hotter and the color was drained from the sky. The stream provides the direction through the image and the peaks provide a dramatic backdrop to the scene.
