The Eureka Dunes are north of Death Valley at the end of a jarring road. It is also the place where I took my first successful 4x5 desert photograph some years before. In this photograph I was drawn to the layering, where the foreground leads into the bushes and flat sands with the sun drenched dune towering behind. This creates the movement to within the photograph.
