Lake Powell's level rises and falls with the seasons and the climate. When the conditions are stable enough, water action creates small wave cut platforms and strandlines. Here the grasses in the foreground have found these lines. As the grasses move off to the left, the ridge behind gains strength in the other direction, taking the eye to the clouds. As the eye follows the cloud line back to the left, the Z pattern holding the element together is completed. |
