I hiked into the high Sierras with my 100 lb pack not knowing if I would be able to take any photographs, since there was a large controlled burn a few days earlier. The skies were very smoky. After a few days, the skies cleared, but just enough smoke remained to make fantastic sunsets. This scene after sunset, with 3 14,000 foot mountains reflecting the pink and orange afterglow of the sunset. The tree trunks throughout the picture also pick up this special light. |
